Piatigorsky International Cello Festival (May 13 – 22, 2016)

Piatigorsky International Cello Festival announced
Presented by the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, in partnership with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Festival is a 10-day cello extravaganza showcasing 26 international artists representing 15 countries and 4 continents.

For classical musicians, the Piatigorsky International Cello Festival is an unparalleled opportunity to hear and meet many of the world’s most celebrated cellists. Annie Jacobs-Perkins and three other USC Thornton cello students — Eunghee Cho, Coleman Itzkoff and Bingxia Lu — have a special relationship with the festival. The four were named Piatigorsky Fellows, a group of 36 of the finest young cellists in the world nominated by the festival’s artists and other elite teachers. Annie Jacobs-Perkins, who just finished her sophomore year in cello performance at the USC Thornton School of Music, marvels at the lineup, which is bringing “almost every cellist I’ve ever heard of” to the University Park Campus and downtown Los Angeles.
