USC Leonard Davis School partners with King’s College London on academic aims

USC Leonard Davis has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with King’s College London to encourage academic aims.

The USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with King’s College London to encourage scholarly interaction, cultural interchange, cooperative research and other forms of academic collaboration, including possible student and staff exchanges between the school and the Ageing Research program at King’s.The ARK program is a multidisciplinary consortium of investigators that brings together scholars and researchers in several complementary areas. It includes eight faculties at King’s College and its Francis Crick Institute, a joint venture with University College London and Imperial College London.

Among its official international partners, ARK now lists the National University of Singapore; the Technical University of Dresden; the Karolinska Institute and Stockholm University; Keio University; Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research; Freie Universität Berlin; Charite Universitätsmedizin; Deutsche Institut für Ernährungsforschung; Harvard University and Harvard Medical School; and the USC Leonard Davis School.

The MOU between the USC and King’s College was arranged through contacts between Professor Kelvin J. A. Davies, vice dean of the USC Leonard Davis School, and Professor Richard C. M. Siow, vice dean, International, faculty of life science and medicine and director of the ARK program.

Davies, also holds a joint appointment as Honorary Distinguished Professor at King’s. Both Davies and USC Leonard Davis School University Professor Eileen Crimmins already have extensive ongoing research collaborations with several faculty members at King’s and hope to see these grow in the future.

Leonard Davis School Dean Pinchas Cohen, USC Vice President for Strategic and Global Initiatives Anthony Bailey, USC Associate Vice Provost for Global Engagement and Strategic and Global Initiatives Paulo Rodrigues, King’s Director of Global Engagement Tania Lima, King’s Vice President and Vice Principal for International Affairs Professor Funmi Olonisakin, King’s Executive Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine Professor Richard Trembath, King’s Director of the Analytical and Environmental Sciences Division Frank Kelly, and King’s Professor of Vascular Physiology Professor Giovanni Mann all played roles in the creation of the MOU.

London University is one of the top three universities in the United Kingdom and King’s College is one of its founding and most prestigious colleges.
